Reverse description Four lines of votive inscription arranged within a finely rendered laurel wreath, the branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow and surmounted at the apex by a plain globular pellet. The legend VOTIS XXX MVLTIS XXXX, celebrating the emperor's thirtieth regnal vows and offering prayers for his fortieth, is displayed in four registers: VOTIS, XXX, MVLTIS, XXXX. The mintmark C I, denoting the Constantinople mint with officina I, appears in the exergue below the wreath.
