The Shahada and Shi'a declaration of faith — affirming the oneness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the wilayat of Ali — are arranged in horizontal registers across the coin face, with the script displaying characteristic Safavid calligraphic style. Peripheral legends encircle the central text, though their legibility is partially compromised by the irregular planchet edges and typical striking weakness of hammered coinage. The overall design is devoid of figural imagery, conforming strictly to the aniconic tradition of Safavid silver coinage. |
