The shield is set upon a low base or captive figure in the exergue, a common compositional device on imperial bronze coinage of this period. The encircling Latin legend VICTORIA AVGVSTI flanks the figure left and right, while the senatorial authority mark S C appears in the lower exergue, confirming this as a senatorial bronze issue struck at the Rome mint. |
