Obverse description Laureate bust of Vespasian facing right, draped at the shoulder, rendered in bold high relief characteristic of early Flavian portraiture. The emperor's fleshy, realistically individualized features — including his broad forehead, strong jawline, and characteristic wrinkles — reflect the veristic tradition of Roman imperial coinage. A laurel wreath crowns his head, with ribbons visible at the nape. The circular legend runs around the full perimeter of the field, reading from lower left.

Reverse description Victory personified standing right, her wings spread behind her, resting her left foot upon a captured enemy helmet. With her right hand she inscribes the legend OB CIV SERV upon a large oval shield that is affixed to the trunk of a palm tree — a well-known symbol of the Jewish War triumph. The composition is a deliberate allusion to Vespasian's consolidation of power and his military victory. The senatorial authorization mark S C appears in the lower field to either side of the central design.
