Reverse description A hippocampus (mythological sea-horse) depicted facing right within a circular border, its equine forebody arching dynamically and its serpentine fish-tail curling beneath the body. The creature is rendered in a lively, schematic style characteristic of Iberian imitative coinage. The Iberian legend ETERTER appears in the lower portion of the field, inscribed in Levantine semi-syllabic script. The flan is thick and irregular, consistent with cast-blank hammered production of the 2nd century BC.
