| Obverse description | The Portuguese royal coat of arms occupies the central field, rendered in the hammered style characteristic of colonial Goa mint production. The shield displays the traditional quintas arrangement of the arms of Portugal, surrounded by an ornate decorative mantle or torse. The design is compact given the small flan, with the heraldic device filling most of the obverse field. No legend is present on the obverse. |

| Reverse description | A Cross of Saint Thomas (Cruz de São Tomé) dominates the reverse field, with the crossbar and shaft dividing the field into four quadrants. The numeral '2' and the denomination mark 'X' (for Xerafins) appear in the upper two quadrants flanking the cross, while the date is distributed across the lower two quadrants. The cross features decorative terminals typical of the São Tomé type struck at Goa, with the overall design struck on a small, irregularly shaped hammered flan. |
