| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays the Portuguese royal arms: five escutcheons arranged in a quincunx pattern, each charged with five bezants representing the five Moorish kings defeated at the Battle of Ourique, all enclosed within a quatrefoil formed by interlaced arcs. Between the arms, in the angles of the quatrefoil, the mint letters 'O' and 'R' (for Évora) are visible. The entire device is surrounded by a beaded inner circle, with the outer royal legend in Gothic Latin script running between two concentric beaded borders. The composition follows the standard heraldic type established for João I's billon coinage, with die workmanship typical of the Évora mint during the 1385–1387 emission period. |
