Obverse description Central field features the Gothic monogram IHS (Christogram) surmounted by a large royal crown, all set within a beaded inner circle. The crowned monogram is rendered in a bold Gothic style characteristic of late 14th-century Portuguese hammered coinage. A secondary inner beaded border frames the central device, while the outer annular legend is separated by a further beaded circle. The circumferential Latin legend reads ADIVTORIVM NOSTRVM QVI FECIT CELVM ET TERRAM, referencing Psalm 124, with mint mark and secret symbols flanking the crown according to emission variety.
