| Obverse description | Hybrid anthropomorphic-zoomorphic effigy depicting a royal bust with crowned head mounted upon a bird's body, oriented to the right, the figure brandishing a sword in the right hand. To the dexter field, a heraldic shield is depicted with a ring or annulet above. The design is contained within a plain inner circle, typical of the bracteate-influenced Pfennig coinage of the Styrian region. The overall style reflects the crude but expressive hammered die-work characteristic of 13th-century Central European minor coinage. |
