The 'V' is boldly struck and surrounded by rough, irregular flan edges characteristic of hammered medieval coinage. Given the thin, irregularly shaped planchet, strike-through from the obverse design is visible across portions of the field. The minimalist design is consistent with the incuse or near-bracteate striking technique employed for Carinthian pfennigs of this period. |
