| Beschrijving keerzijde | A fire altar occupies the central field, its shaft bearing a pseudo-legend rendered in imitation Pahlavi script, a common feature on peripheral Sasanian coinage of this type. Rising from the altar flames is a bust facing right, representing either the sacred fire deity or a royal effigy, consistent with Zoroastrian iconographic conventions. Flanking the altar stand two royal attendants, each adorned with a mural crown, rendered symmetrically in the hieratic Sasanian style. The overall composition reflects the standard reverse type of Shapur II's silver fractional coinage, emphasizing the dynasty's Zoroastrian religious authority. The design is characteristic of the Kabul mint series assigned to this reign. |
