Obverse description Central cross pattée within a plain inner circle, dividing the field into four quadrants. The legend HLVDOVVICVS PIVS runs in a circular arrangement around the inner circle, preceded by a cross pommée. The coin is struck on an irregular flan typical of Carolingian hammered silver, with a beaded or plain border. The design follows the standard Carolingian temple-and-cross typology adapted for this issue.

Reverse description The reverse bears a two-line inscription across the field reading ARGENTI / NACVNAS, the Latin name for Argentoratum (Strasbourg), identifying the mint city. The lettering is rendered in bold, well-spaced Carolingian capitals on a plain, unadorned field. The flan is irregular and slightly cracked, consistent with hand-hammered production of the period. No additional decorative elements or border ornamentation are present.
