| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crude hammered silver obol of irregular flan. The obverse displays a plain cross pattée in the central field, with a small annulet or pellet in one of the lower quarters, rendered in the rudimentary style typical of early Capetian ecclesiastical coinage. The surrounding legend, distributed around the periphery, reads HERVEVS HVGO REX, identifying Bishop Hervé alongside King Hugh Capet. The lettering is in debased Carolingian capitals, irregularly spaced due to the hand-struck technique. |
