Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in left profile, rendered in fine Arcadian style. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, with a prominent crest and cheek-guards partially raised. The hair falls in stylized locks beneath the helmet rim, and the facial features display the characteristic archaic-to-classical transition typical of Peloponnesian coinage of this period. The neck and lower cheek are protected by the flared guard of the helmet.
