The emperor carries a spear over his right shoulder and a large decorated shield on his left arm. The obverse legend reads DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG, distributed around the periphery within a beaded border, proclaiming him Dominus Noster and Pater Patriae Augustus. The portrait style is characteristic of late Roman imperial coinage, with bold, schematic modeling. |

The reverse legend GLORIA ROMANORVM encircles the scene, with the mintmark CON followed by an officina letter appearing in the exergue or field, denoting the Constantinople mint. |
