Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo Archagetas facing left, rendered in fine Sicilian style with flowing hair falling in thick locks behind the neck. The wreath of laurel is clearly articulated around the brow, and the facial features display the idealized classicism characteristic of late 4th-century BC Sicilian coinage. The Greek legend APXAΓETAΣ curves around the portrait, identifying the deity as Archagetas, the divine leader and protector. A dotted border frames the design along the inner edge of the flan.
