| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a beaded inner circle, the crowned eagle of Fribourg is displayed above the city's tower arms — a crenellated castle gate rendered in detail at center. The combined arms are enclosed within a linear circle, with the circular legend reading + MO · FRIBVRGENSIS around the periphery. On undated examples the tower may appear oriented to the left or right. The overall design is characteristic of late medieval Swiss cantonal coinage executed in the hammered technique. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold Latin cross with flared terminals occupies the center of the coin, contained within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the field into four equal quadrants. Surrounding the inner circle is the devotional legend + SANCTVS: NICOLAVS, invoking Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of Fribourg, in capital Roman letters within the outer beaded border. The design is simple and emblematic, consistent with Swiss billon coinage of the sixteenth century. |
