| Reverse description | Scyphate reverse depicting three crowned imperial figures standing facing in full regalia within the concave field. The central and tallest figure is Romanos IV Diogenes, shown wearing jewelled crown and loros, holding a labarum sceptre in his right hand; to his left stands Empress Eudokia and to his right an associated co-emperor, all clad in elaborate Byzantine imperial costume with jewelled loros and pendilia. The abbreviated legend KWN MX ANΔ appears distributed across the field in Greek characters, identifying the co-emperors Constantine X, Michael VII, and Andronikos Doukas. The design is enclosed within a double beaded border consistent with Constantinopolitan mint practice of the period. |
