The calf's ear is clearly delineated and the mane or neck hair is rendered with undulating wavy lines. To the left of the calf's head appears a rectangular incuse punch subdivided into a grid-like pattern, serving as the secondary control or die mark. The overall composition is characteristic of the paired obverse-reverse typology unique to the electrum hektai of Mytilene. |
