| Reverse description | St. John the Baptist depicted standing facing, rendered in full length in high relief, clad in flowing drapery with fine linear detail. He raises his right hand in a gesture of blessing while holding an attribute in his left hand; a nimbus surrounds his head. An eagle, the evangelist symbol associated with St. John, appears beside his head. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the figure along the border, identifying the saint. The composition follows the standard St. John type adopted by numerous Low Countries imitations of the Florentine florin. |
