Obverse description Full-length figure of St. John the Baptist facing, nimbed and draped in flowing robes, holding a cross-tipped staff in his right hand and a book or Agnus Dei in his left. The figure stands centrally within a beaded inner circle, rendered in the characteristic Gothic style of late 14th-century Rhenish goldsmith work. The surrounding legend is separated from the central type by a beaded border and reads FRIDICVS EPC TRAIEC, identifying Frederick, Bishop of Utrecht.
