Reverse description A bold cross pattée extends to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quadrants, with an inner circular legend intersected by the arms of the cross. A beaded inner circle separates the inner legend from the outer peripheral legend, which runs continuously around the coin's edge in uncial Gothic script. The cross arms are plain and broad, typical of the Flemish and Lotharingian groat tradition. The legends in both the inner and outer registers are rendered in characteristic Gothic uncial letterforms, and the reverse carries the full devotional inscription invoking the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, a common feature of medieval Low Countries ecclesiastical coinage.
