| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bearded bust of Emperor Nikephoros II Phokas in three-quarter view, wearing an elaborate imperial crown adorned with a cross and pendilia flanking the face. The emperor is attired in the loros, the distinctive imperial ceremonial vestment. He holds a cruciform scepter in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left, both emblems of imperial authority. The bust is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of mid-Byzantine copper coinage. A Greek abbreviated legend flanks the bust identifying the emperor. |
