| Reverse description | The reverse bears a four-line Greek inscription filling the entire coin field, reading the imperial titulature of Nikephoros II Phokas. The legend is introduced by a cross at the upper left. The bold, deeply incised capital letters are characteristic of the anonymous and imperial folles of the middle Byzantine period. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven as is typical of hammered Byzantine copper issues. No other decorative elements or imagery are present beyond the epigraphic legend. |
