Greek legend distributed in the quarters of the cross reads BA-IM / VN-OC, a corrupted rendering of BOHEMUNDOS, identifying the issuing prince Bohemond II. The lettering is characteristic of the debased Greek epigraphy found on Crusader copper coinage, and the die work is bold though somewhat rough in execution. |
