| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts the heraldic arms of Luxembourg within an elaborate shield, surmounted by a crested helmet and flanked by supporters, all rendered in high relief in the Gothic hammered style. A rampant lion, the principal charge of the Luxembourg arms, is prominently displayed within the shield. The composition is contained within a raised inner circle with a beaded border. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial characters reads +MOnETA⁑ nOVA⁑ LVCEnBVRGENSIS, identifying this as the new coinage of Luxembourg. The overall design reflects the Burgundian Gothic aesthetic characteristic of Philip the Good's monetary issues. |
