Falus - Anonymous Rasht mint

Rasht, the principal city of Gilan province on Iran's Caspian littoral, operated intermittently as an independent municipal mint during periods when Safavid and later Qajar central authority loosened its grip on the northern provinces. Anonymous copper falus of this type — bearing no ruler's name — were issued under local civic authority rather than imperial sanction, a practice that places them squarely within the fragmented monetary conditions of the post-Safavid interregnum. Album 3257 covers a broad municipal type, and attribution to Rasht specifically depends entirely on the mint name in the legends.
