Obverse description Irregular hammered copper flan bearing a multi-line Arabic legend disposed across the field in characteristic Mamluk epigraphic style. The inscription, written in angular script, occupies the entire face and proclaims the royal titles and name of Sultan al-Zahir Barquq. The legend is arranged in horizontal registers with no border ornament, consistent with the utilitarian aesthetic of late 14th-century Mamluk copper coinage. The surface shows typical die-struck relief with natural flan irregularities at the periphery. No figural devices or geometric framing lines are present, the composition being entirely textual.
