Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of João, Prince Regent, facing right, rendered in high relief in the neoclassical style. The prince's hair is elaborately styled with a laurel wreath, and the drapery is visible at the truncation. The circular legend reads JOANNES.D.G.PORT.ET.ALG.P.REGENS, divided by the effigy, with the date 1807 appearing in the lower field beneath the bust.

Reverse description The Portuguese royal arms displayed as an ornate crowned shield at centre, featuring the traditional quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) upon a field of castles, all within an elaborate baroque cartouche with foliate and scrollwork flourishes extending to either side. The royal crown surmounts the shield, and the entire composition fills the coin's field without a surrounding legend, presenting a bold heraldic design characteristic of late Braganza coinage.
