The bold, dynamic composition fills the field and conveys imperial military prowess. The abbreviated legend COS III P P appears in the upper field around the periphery, while the senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently placed in the lower exergual field, divided on either side of the horse's forelegs.
