背面描述 Crowned composite coat of arms of Poland-Lithuania displayed within a beaded inner circle, incorporating the quartered arms of Poland, Lithuania, Kyiv, Smolensk, and Volhynia, with the Sforza serpent device at the center. The shield is surmounted by an ornate royal crown. A circular Latin legend surrounds the beaded border, identifying the coin as gold coinage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The overall heraldic composition reflects the dynastic and territorial claims of the Jagiellonian monarchy.

附加信息

Sigismund II Augustus was the last Jagiellonian king, and his Lithuanian ducats from the Wilno mint span nearly the entirety of his reign — a period that included the Union of Lublin in 1569, which formally merged Poland and Lithuania into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Whether issues struck after 1569 should properly be attributed to Lithuania or the Commonwealth remains a cataloger's argument that Gumowski resolved by keeping them under the Lithuanian series through the reign's end.

The Wilno mint operated intermittently under lease arrangements, which accounts for the uneven quality and die consistency seen across the 1547–1571 date range. Some years show no documented output at all.
