Obverse description Crowned and armored bust of Sigismund II Augustus in right profile, wearing an ornate arched crown surmounted by a cross and detailed armor with visible gorget and pauldron. The effigy is rendered in a robust Renaissance style with fine engraving of facial features and hair. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, reading from the upper right and continuing around the periphery of the coin. The field is plain, with the bust occupying the majority of the coin's face.
