Small decorative pellets and fleurs appear in the angles flanking the castle motif. The surrounding legend, in Gothic uncial characters, reads the name and titles of Francis Sforza as lord of Genoa. The overall composition follows the traditional Genovino design, preserving the symbolic civic imagery of the commune. The flan is irregular, as characteristic of hammered gold coinage of this period. |

The cross is enclosed within a plain inner circle surrounded by a beaded border, consistent with the obverse treatment. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial characters invokes the name of Conrad, King of the Romans, a traditional Genoese reverse type perpetuated on these later issues as a mark of imperial legitimacy. A letter initial at the end of the legend identifies the die variety. The hammered flan displays the characteristic irregular outline of hand-struck medieval gold. |
