The Boii were expelled from Bohemia by the Germanic Marcomanni around 50–60 BC, after which surviving groups dispersed into the Danube basin — the "Southern Slovakia and Northern Hungary" attribution reflects precisely this refugee population, minting in diminished but persistent tribal tradition. The Tótfalu type belongs to the late phase of Boian coinage, when flan preparation had grown irregular and silver content was declining, symptoms of a polity under sustained pressure rather than settled production.
