The Pahlavi legend surrounding the effigy reads 'Mzdysn bgy šhpwhry MRK'n MRK' 'yr'n MNW ctry MN yzd'n' (Mazda-worshipping divine Shapur, King of Kings of Iran, whose lineage is from the gods). A secondary Pahlavi inscription 'nwr'zy' appears to the right of the bust and 'šhpwhry' to the left. |

Pahlavi inscriptions appear in the field to either side of the central group. |
