To the left stands a kerykion (caduceus), the symbol of Hermes and of commercial authority. The magistrate's name ΚΑΛΛΙΞΕΙ appears above, with the ethnic abbreviation P O (for Ρόδιον, Rhodes) distributed in the field. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of the Rhodian plintophoric coinage of the late second and early first centuries BC. |
