| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the distinctive 'trisected circle' or 'three rings' geometric device, consisting of a central pellet enclosed within concentric circular bands divided into three equal segments, evoking a wheel or sun motif with radiating elements. Arabic legends fill the three segmental divisions of the inner ring and extend into the surrounding annular zone. An outer marginal legend in Kufic-style Arabic script encircles the entire design, bordered on the periphery by a beaded or rope-pattern rim. The overall composition is characteristically dense and abstract, consistent with hammered Shaddadid coinage of the mid-eleventh century. |
