| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse field is entirely occupied by the Islamic shahada rendered in bold, densely interlaced Arabic script, characteristic of the Moroccan hammered coinage tradition. The legend reads in two lines: the first line bearing the first part of the profession of faith ('There is no god but God') and the second line completing it with ('Muhammad is the Messenger of God'). The calligraphy is executed in a robust, angular style typical of Alaouite-era dies, filling the flan to its irregular borders. No figural imagery is present, in accordance with Islamic numismatic convention. The planchet is irregular in outline, consistent with the hand-hammered production technique of the period. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse field is filled with four lines of Arabic inscription in the bold, compressed calligraphic style characteristic of Alaouite hammered dirhams. The legend identifies the ruler as Muhammad ibn Abdallah, Commander of the Faithful, followed by the mint name Fes (Fez) and the Hijri date 1183 (corresponding to 1769-1770 CE). The Arabic Eastern numerals for the date are clearly rendered in the lower portion of the field and are visible in the image. The flan is irregular in shape with a plain, unworked edge, typical of hand-struck Moroccan silver coinage of this period. |
