| Obverse description | Central field features a tamga (dynastic emblem) enclosed within a plain raised circle, itself surrounded by a border of pellets arranged along the upper periphery of the flan. The tamga appears in a schematic form typical of Golden Horde coinage, rendered in low relief on an uneven hammered flan. The design is entirely anepigraphic, with no legend or inscription present on either side. |

| Additional information |
The anepigraphic "ornamental type" dirhams of the Bulghar mint occupy an odd corner of Golden Horde numismatics — no ruler name, no date, no religious formula. Whether this reflects a deliberate administrative choice or a localized minting practice that simply never adopted the conventions seen at Sarai and Qrim remains debated. Bulghar itself, the old Volga Bulgaria capital, was folded into the Horde's economic infrastructure early and retained certain regional minting idiosyncrasies well into the late 13th century.
The thirty-year attribution window for this type is telling — die analysis has not yet produced the chronological anchors needed to narrow it further.
