| Popis líce | Central field contains the Islamic shahada in three lines of Kufic Arabic script: 'لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له' (There is no god but God alone, He has no associate). The central inscription is enclosed within a single-line inner circle, surrounded by a circular marginal legend in Kufic script reading the continuation of the Islamic profession of faith. The outer margin is further bordered by a pellet-and-annulet decorative band. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production of the Umayyad-Abbasid transitional period. |
