Entirely epigraphic design executed in Kufic Arabic script, arranged concentrically across multiple registers. The central field contains a multi-line Arabic religious and royal inscription set within a small inner circle, surrounded by a dotted border. A second circular band carries a continuation of the legend, enclosed between concentric plain fillets. The outermost broad marginal band bears a further Arabic inscription running around the full circumference of the coin. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, typical of Fatimid-influenced Sicilian gold coinage of this period; a suspension hole is pierced at the top. |

Entirely epigraphic design in Kufic Arabic script, arranged in concentric circular registers mirroring the obverse layout. The innermost circle contains a two-line Arabic inscription within a dotted border, surrounded by an annular band of legend separated by plain fillets. The broad outer marginal band carries a further Arabic inscription encircling the entire coin. The die work follows the Fatimid dinar tradition closely, with the royal and religious titles of William I rendered in an elegant Kufic hand; a suspension hole is pierced at the bottom of the flan. |
