Obverse description Full-length frontal effigy of Stefan Uroš IV Dušan in imperial regalia, wearing an elaborate jewelled crown and richly ornamented imperial loros. The ruler holds a patriarchal cross-sceptre in his right hand and an orb or globus in his left, rendered in a hieratic Byzantine style characteristic of medieval Serbian coinage. Cyrillic legend is disposed to either side of the figure in the field. The coin is contained within a beaded inner border, with the flan showing the typical irregular contour of hammered medieval issues.
