| Descrizione del dritto | Central field bears a three-line Arabic Kufic inscription proclaiming the Shahada and the mission of the Prophet Muhammad, arranged within a plain inner circle. A double marginal legend encircles the central inscription, separated by two concentric linear borders, carrying a Quranic verse from Surat al-Tawba (9:33) attesting to the truth of Islam. The coin is struck in hammered gold with characteristic irregular flan and the bold angular Kufic script typical of early Abbasid coinage. |

Harun al-Rashid's reign saw repeated experimentation with marginal inscription formats as the Abbasid chancery worked to balance religious text requirements against the physical constraints of the flan. The double marginal band on this type represents one of the less-common solutions tested during his caliphate — Album 218.3 sits apart from the more frequently encountered single-margin issues of the same period.
Weight consistency on Abbasid gold dinars of this era was enforced with unusual rigor; surviving assay records from comparable issues show tolerances kept within a fraction of a grain.
