The double marginal band on this type represents one of the less-common solutions tested during his caliphate — Album 218.3 sits apart from the more frequently encountered single-margin issues of the same period.
Weight consistency on Abbasid gold dinars of this era was enforced with unusual rigor; surviving assay records from comparable issues show tolerances kept within a fraction of a grain.
