| Obverse description | Purely epigraphic design executed in Kufic script, arranged in three horizontal lines of Arabic legend within a plain inner circle. The central field carries the Shahada and mint formula, with the text densely composed and occupying the majority of the flan. A continuous circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs between two concentric circles formed by a beaded or linear border, enclosing the entire composition. The coin bears no figural imagery, consistent with Umayyad Andalusian aniconic coinage practice. The overall style reflects the refined lapidary Kufic characteristic of the Madinat al-Zahra mint during the reign of 'Abd al-Rahman III. |
