| Obverse description | Full-length figure of Saint Theodore (patron saint of Valais) standing facing, vested in episcopal robes with mitre and holding a crozier in his left hand; at his feet to the right, a crouching devil or dragon rendered in low relief. The saintly figure is framed within a beaded inner border, with the circular Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the field. The design is executed in the late Gothic style characteristic of Swiss ecclesiastical coinage of the late 15th century. |
