Obverse description Bare head of Ares in right profile, wearing a Corinthian-style crested helmet with prominent cheek guards and a forward-sweeping plume, rendered in sturdy relief characteristic of late Hellenistic Ionian civic bronzes. The facial features are boldly modelled, with a strong brow, aquiline nose, and firm jaw visible beneath the helmet's cheek guard. The hair is visible beneath the helmet rim. The design fills the flan within a plain linear border, with no legend on this side.
