Opis awersu	A plain cross with four wedge-shaped ornaments filling the quadrants between the arms, all contained within a plain inner circle. The legend +CEHANVS REX (referring to King István/Stephen) runs around the periphery between the inner circle and the beaded outer border. The design is characteristic of early Hungarian hammered coinage, struck on a small, irregularly shaped flan with bold, if somewhat crude, execution.
