The Slavník dynasty controlled a semi-autonomous principality centered at Libice nad Cidlinou that operated its own mint — a privilege that put them in direct political competition with the Přemyslid rulers of Bohemia. That rivalry ended catastrophically on September 28, 995, when the Přemyslids massacred virtually the entire Slavník family at Libice while Vojtěch (Adalbert), the most famous member of the clan, was absent on missionary work in Prussia. Sobeslaus was among those killed. This denier is therefore a product of a minting authority that was permanently extinguished by violence, not gradual absorption.
