| Beschrijving keerzijde | A large central cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, with a globule placed in at least two opposing quarters, consistent with Flemish monastic denier types of the mid-11th century. The cross is bold and linear, rendered in a plain hammered style. Surrounding the central device, the legend BERAS S VINOC, preceded by a cross, references the mint town of Bergues and the patron saint Winoc, to whom the issuing abbey was dedicated. The flan is irregular and the lettering somewhat uneven, as is characteristic of this period's ecclesiastical coinage. |
